Embedded Systems
The MSACS includes substantial strength and study in the area of embedded systems. Microprocessors have been integrated with and embedded within a huge range of modern technology devices, ranging from microwave ovens, to automobiles, to cell phones. This trend is expected to accelerate dramatically over the next decade, as processing power becomes cheap enough to be embedded in almost any machine. Two courses in the MSACS program develop expertise in embedded systems and embedded systems design.

CS 8411 Embedded Systems and Microcontrollers
An introduction to embedded systems, embedded system programming, microcontrollers and embedded system analysis and design. Discussion of real-time systems, operating systems, timing constraints and execution size limitations. Laboratory experience will realize theoretical concepts.

CS 8512 Advanced Embedded Systems and Microcontrollers
A continuation of Embedded Systems, with emphasis on interfacing, networking, and real-time systems analysis and design.
